Ilan AlonFranchising Biography

Ilan Alon is Professor of Strategy and International Marketing at the School of Business and Law at the University of Agder. He holds a Ph.D. from Kent State University (USA).
Alon is a researcher in the field of international business with a focus on internationalization, modes of entry, political risk, cultural intelligence and emerging markets. His publications have appeared in journals, such as Harvard Business Review, Management International Review, International Business Review, Journal of International Marketing, and International Marketing Review. His books are published by Palgrave, Routledge, McGraw-Hill and others.
Alon is the Head of International Affairs for the School of Business and Law at the University of Agder, and leader of the Emerging Markets research group. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Emerging Markets and the European Journal of International Management.
Previously, Alon has held research positions at Harvard University (USA), Georgetown University (USA) and University of International Business and Economics (China).
Alon has worked with government bodies, non-profit organizations, multinational companies and international associations on various projects, ranging from capacity development at the macro level to international business development at the firm or project level. Clients include USAID, illy, Darden, Disney, and others.
Alon is a frequent speaker or writer on various international networks including National Public Radio (USA), Voice of America (USA), RTV (Russia), the Financial Times (UK), and Dagens Næringsliv (Norway).

Bakgrunn

Ilan Alon er professor i strategi og internasjonal markedsføring på Handelshøyskolen ved Universitetet i Agder. Han har en Ph.D. fra Kent State University (USA).

Alon forsker på internasjonal forretningsliv med fokus på internasjonalisering, strategier for markedsinnpass, politisk risiko, kulturell intelligens og fremvoksende markeder. Forskningen er publisert i tidsskrifter som Harvard Business Review, Management International Review, International Business Review, Journal of International Marketing og International Marketing Review. Bøkene hans er utgitt av blant annet Palgrave, Routledge og McGraw-Hill.
Alon er også redaktør av International Journal of Emerging Markets og European Journal of International Management.

Tidligere har Alon hatt forskningsstillinger ved Harvard University (USA), Georgetown University (USA) og University of International Business and Economics (Kina). På UiA er han leder for Handelshøyskolens internasjonale relasjoner og forskningsgruppen Emerging Markets.

Alon har jobbet med statlige organer, ideelle organisasjoner, multinasjonale selskaper og internasjonale foreninger i ulike prosjekter – fra kapasitetsutvikling på makronivå til internasjonal forretningsutvikling på selskaps- eller prosjektnivå. Klienter inkluderer USAID, illy, Darden, Disney og andre.
